Cookie Dip is the perfect accompaniment to all the cookies on the dessert table. Creamy, tangy, and not too sweet, it’s delicious with cookies and fruit.
The idea for this tasty Cookie Dip has to be credited to my toddler. My once calm and adorable child has recently become a strangely picky eater, vehemently refusing most everything we put in front of him. This was turning every meal into a frustrating fiasco until I stumbled upon a handy little parenting trick: serve it with dip!
Turns out two year olds love the seemingly mundane act of dipping food. Knowing this little secret has made my life that much easier. The sandwich will be eaten if he can dip it in soup. The vegetables will be eaten if there’s a cheese sauce. The fruit will be enjoyed if there’s a yogurt dip on the side. Dip has been a lifesaver.
It was with my quirky little toddler in mind that I thought of making a cookie dip. Something versatile that would taste good with a lot of different cookies, but would make the dessert table just a little more fun. This creamy Cookie Dip fits the bill perfectly!
Realistically, my toddler would probably eat his cookies even without cookie dip. However, eating cookies with dip is one hundred percent more fun for all ages! My toddler’s eyes quite literally sparkled when he realized I was handing him cookies and dip. Honestly though, so did mine.
Now, if you’re thinking that cookies are sweet already and a dip would be too much, let me explain. The dip, with cream cheese and plain yogurt, actually seems to balance the sweetness of the cookies. The dip is only lightly sweetened and the tangy, creamy flavor blends well with so many cookie varieties. I’m partial to it with a ginger cookie or a fudgy chocolate cookie, but the kids love it with their sugar cookies too. It also makes a tasty fruit dip!
This Cream Cheese Cookie Dip makes for easy entertaining this time of year (or really any time of year). It will elevate even the most drab store bought Christmas cookies. Best of all, it takes about 5 minutes to make. Stir in some bright holiday sprinkles and you’ve got a tasty, festive centerpiece for the dessert table. It will be a huge hit with the kids! Really though, the grown ups will probably have just as much fun! Turns out, I’m a sucker for a good dip too.
Now, bring on the holidays! I’m totally ready.
- 10 oz whipped cream cheese
- ¼ cup plain yogurt
- 2 tablespoons butter, melted
- ½ teaspoon vanilla extract
- ¼ to ⅓ cup powdered sugar, or to taste
- holiday sprinkles for topping (optional)
- Using an electric mixer, beat together the cream cheese and yogurt until smooth. Mix in the butter, vanilla, and sugar. Taste and adjust sweetness as desired.
- Top with sprinkles and serve with cookies, fruit, and graham crackers.
This dip is also easily doubled or tripled for entertaining.
